April 7th, 2011

Hello and welcome to the 4th edition of the Cure Times.

Special Announcement – The Cure Times will now be going biweekly. Not for lack of readership, but because like fine wine, the Cure Times take time to perfect.

The wrap-up – Last week, Cure Talk was hit with a pretty severe case of Cricket Fever. Luckily, India winning the world cup was an immediate cure and the blog schedule is back to normal. Through it all, we still managed to publish some excellent stories even one about God as the ultimate source of all healing.

As usual, I welcome your feedback and would love to hear how you think the Cure Times can be enhanced.

Should read:"Blog of the bi-week"

Blog of the Week – The blog of the week is the blog that address the hottest topic from the past week’s major news stories.  I wrote a blog two weeks ago about Elizabeth Taylor and her commitment to fighting AIDS.  She passed away in late March and although many blogs and news articles went up profiling her amazing life, I chose to focus on her commitment to battling AIDS. She started an AIDS organization and served on the board of others. She brought awareness to this disease during a time when it was still taboo to mention. The blog has recieved over 500 views and brings in dozens of people on a daily basis.

Information Station – The blog that is the most informative, chocked full-o-links, videos, tweet feeds etc. will be featured in the Information Station. Pat Killingsworth’s blog about the incredible bill that Multiple Myeloma racks up, takes the cake this time around.  Although he ultimately links back to an Every Day Health blog, the information there is incredibly valuable to any MM sufferer.

Popularity Contest – The Popularity Contest’s winning blog generates the most traffic: Art, namely that of Salvador Dali brought in the most traffic over the past few weeks.  Sarah’s short little blog about the fact the that Dali suffered from ADHD was a big hit with Cure Talk readers.

And while we are on the topic of traffic, again, Cure Talk readership is up 15% this week from last week.  Let’s keep up the great work everyone!

The Mirth Medal – This week’s mirth medal is awarded to Char Grossman’s blog about therapeutic Yoga for Cancer Survivors.  There were some classically humerus blogs, but this one in particular brought a smile to my face. Char is owner of Yoga-Reach and is personally committed to helping people through Yoga.

Editor’s Choice The Editor’s Choice blog is (in her opinion) the most, well rounded, enjoyable and best written blog.  Jaya Tiwari, who, if she ever decides not to be a doctor should become a writer, wrote this blog about transplants.  It is a position piece in support of Transplants and Jaya did a fantastic job, drew upon her own experience, that of others, and included some great references.  I encourage you to read this and all of her previous blogs.

Welcome aboard! Here is were we welcome our new editors.

Ari Meisel Welcome!  Ari is a master of social media and has a passion to share his own predicament with various ailments. His first blog was about Crohn’s Disease and how he overcame it. We’ve got a few more bloggers on deck and I hope to be welcoming them on board officially soon.
